SANDALOur study area, the province Kahraman MDUDúis located in north-eastern Adanapart of the Mediterranean region. The study field has varieties from the point of view ofphysical geographic conditions. Altitude ranges from 350m to 3000m. The mountainswhich are the extensions of south-eastern Taurus, subsidence plains located among themountains and stream valleys form the general landscape of the town.The hydrological features of the rivers in Kahraman MDUDúKDYHEHHQanalyzed inthe study. Besides being located in the 0HGLWHUUDQHDQ UHJLRQ .DKUDPDQ 0DUDú is onthe passing land of Central Anatolian, Eastern Anatolian and South-eastern Anatolianregions because of its geographical position; therefore its climate has varieties. Thevarieties of its climate causes rivers? stream amount to be different in the months whenthe highest and lowest flows happen.It has been observed in the monthly hydrographs that the stream amounts of therivers increase during the Spring months. Climate and physical geographic conditions ofthe areas where the stations are located, determine largely the amount of flow. Forinstance the highest flow in the station of Hurman Suyu-7DQÃUrepresent in April and thelowest flow occurs in January because of the continental climate in the north of thestudy field.Winter rain dominates the city centre of .DKUDPDQ 0DUDú where theMediterranean climate is experienced. In the Orçan creek, the highest flow is seen inFebruary, and the lowest flow is seen in August. This is because the precipitation inwinter is in the rain form, and there is warmth and drought in summer.IIIIt is also detected in the daily prepared precipitation and flow graphics that theprecipitation has affected the flow on the same day. This case demonstrates that theprecipitation falling onto river basin has the most significant effect on the flow.The maximum highest flow was observed in the years 1969 and 1980. In the mostof rivers overflowing cases happened in 1969 and 1980.The rivers in the study field have different hydrologic features. This difference isapparent in the months in which the highest and lowest flows occur and in their streamamounts. There are also differences among the flow amounts and the features of the thestations located on the same river. That the stations? being close to the river mouth andthe spring and the effect of the flow joining the river from the side branches is thereason of this difference.In this study WKH K/GURORJLF IHDWXUHV RI WKH ULYHUV LQ .DKUDPDQ 0DUDú DQG WKHsimilarities and the differences of their flow amounts within themselves have beendetermined.Key Words: River, Flow, Hydrograph, Recurence Interval.IV
