Abstract
ABSTRACT Seventh/thirteenth century was a period when the destruction caused by the Mongol invasion disturbed peace and order in Islamic lands and especially Anatolia; Hence scholarly activities lost their rapid pace. Howewer, the production of scholarly works still continued under these difficult conditions. Particularly the Seljulid and Artukid rulers who reigned in Anatolia in this period invited the scholars who arrived from various lands, taking them under their protection. Therefore, these rulers contributed to the perpetuity and development of scholarly activities. Ebü Bekr er-Râzî -the author of Ravzatu'1-Feşâha- and the subject of the present study, sets and example of the scholars mentioned above. er-Râzî fled from the Mongol oppression and was protected by the Artukid ruler es- Sa'id Necmeddin Gazi in Anatolia. Having stayed in Mardin for a while, he went to Konya. He met Sadreddin Konevî and attented his courses in this city. er-Râzî lived in Konya and its vicinity until he passed away. In his above-mentioned work, er-Râzî presents concise and easily comrehensible information to the readers on the clarity and beaty of expression in the art of writting in Arabic. Occasionally, we also see poems of er-Râzî. By citing plenty of examples in book, he facilitates the understanding of the subject by the readers and fills part of the large gap in this field. This study consist of four parts, i.e. an introduction and the three chapters. Chapter one deals with a full-name of er-Râzî, including his name, travels, his works, his identitty as a scholar and literary man as well as the last years of his life and his death. Chapter two is devoted to the work Ravzatu '1-feşâha itself. Here, we have examined the tittle of the work, the reason for which it was compiled the method of coplilation, description of its copies and how we established the text on the basis of the avaible copies. Chapter three presents a publication of the work including the footnotes. At the end of this study there are index of Koranic verses, hadith, poems, proper names in order to make the use of book easier for the readers.
