Abstract
Ça.l.a). Ça.l.a.ı). ABSTRACT The Assyrian cuneiform sources mention the people of Uruadri and Nairi, who lived through the archaic period of the Urartian Kingdom, that is 13th-9th centuries BC. However, there is no sufficent archaeological data belonging to this period. Rather, the Early Iron Age culture is known frnom the finds coming from the necropoleis. Excavations in the Yoncatepe fortress and necropolis revealed important data about the Early Iron Age. The pottery of Yoncatepe will surely make serious contribution to the understanding of the Early Iron Age. The pottery of Yoncatepe, which forms the subject of this thesis was carefully examined, drawn and defined. The drawings were reduced to the scale of Va and then the plates were prepared. Iventory, excvation and study numbers were given to all of the vessels. The Munsell Color Cataolgue was used for the color definitions in order to form a common color terminology. Sand, mica and lime was added to the vessels as inclusions. These are named as `thin`, `middle` and `coarse` according to their dimensions. In order to trace the chronological differences between the citadel, necropolis and civilian settlimint of Yoncatepe, the vessels were examined.according to their find spots while classfication.they were given a code, which is formed of the first two or three letters of the find spot and an abbreviation representing the pottery type (AK.Ça.). Then, the main groups were determined according to the rim and the profile of the vessels, and these were given Arabic numerals (for example Ça.l). the sub-groups on the other hand, are represented with miniscules (for example Ça. La.). The classification of the sub-groups is made with Roman numerals. ill oz Urartu Krallığı'nın Arkaik çağını oluşturan M.O.XIII. ve IX. yüzyıllar arasında Assur yazılı kaynaklan Uruadri ve Nairi Halklarından bahsetmişler, ancak bu döneme ait yeterli arkeolojik veriler bulunamamıştır.
