Sallustius ve tarih eserlerinde konu dışı anlatımlar

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı bilimsel tarihçiliği ve eserlerinin felsefi derinlik taşıması bakımından oldukça önemli bir yazar olan Gaius Sallustius Crispus'un, eserlerinden hareketle bir tarih yazarı olarak üslubunu incelemek ve eserlerinde sıkça yer verdiği konu dışı anlatımların (excursus) onun üslubundaki yerini ve önemini ortaya koymaktır. Bu amaçla bu çalışmada Sallustius'un, eserlerinin hangi kısımlarında konu dışı anlatımlara yer verdiğine değinilerek, ele aldığı konudan farklı anlatımlar sunmasının tarih yazıcılığına olumlu bir katkı sağlayıp sağlamadığı gösterilmeye çalışılmıştır. Antikçağ tarih yazınında pek çok tarihçinin de kullandığı bir anlatım tarzı olan konu dışı anlatımın, iki temel işlevi üzerinde durularak gerektiği yerlerde okuyucuyu esas konudan uzaklaştırıp, anlatımın sıkıcı olmasını engellemenin yanı sıra kişi tasvirleri, bir bölgenin coğrafyası veya geçmişteki bir olayın anlatımını sunarak ek bilgi vermesi bakımından anlatıma sağladığı katkı Sallustius'un eserlerinde incelenmiştir.

The aim of this study is to analyze the style of Gaius Sallustius Crispus as a historian, who is a very significant writer in terms of scientific historiography and philosophic deepness in his works and present the place and importance in his style of the excursuses that often takes place in his works. Therefore in this study it is mentioned where excursuses take place in the works of Sallustius and it is tried to be revealed if the introduction of different subjects other than those being held contributed to the history writing. It is focused on the two basic functions of the excursuses employed by many historians in the archaic age history literature and it is reviewed in the works of Sallustius the contribution of this method to the wording in terms of both preventing the narration to get boring by taking the readers away from the main topic where necessary, and introduction of new information by description of a person, a geography of a region or the narrative of a past event.
