Abstract
SUMMARY Low and high doses of oral contraceptıve (0.15 mg Desogestrel 0.03 mg ethynyl-estradiel) are admınıstradet to albino rats during to cycles. The uteri of the first group, admisistrated by low and higlı doses are excised under ether anesthesia 24 haurs after the administration lastes. Treatments for light and elecktron microscope observations are realised. The second group is treated 10 cycles after the administra- tîon lasted. in low döşe, administration group, by light micros- copy 80 percent of the uteri vere faund atrophic. Total uterus thickness and of its layers decreased. Compared to control group, the lumen had more regular contours. The glandular epithelium was formed by cubic epithelium, the superficial epithelium by high, cylindrical epitheliu. No alterations vere observed in glandular epitheleum cells by light microscopy. Myometrium thickness generally decre¬ ased.Ultrastructural studies of the same group revaled increase in epithelium height and apikal survace microvillus. Some electron dense gnanules with diffuse chromatine nucleolus were detected. The endometrium stroma was rich in celi but collagene fibres less freqient. Well developped G.E.R. and gol- gi complex vere faund in stromal cells. Frequently revealed in control group, eosinophi- lic granulocytes vere not found in low döşe group. By lihgt microscopy 90 percent of the high döşe group revealed atrophic uteri. The lumen was identical to low döşe group. in öne of the 8 rats of this group, glands vith custic dilatations were faund. Compared to control group, endometrium stroma was pooır in cilia- bearing celle but rich in collagene fibres. Ultrastructural observations of the same group revealed many secretary granules in glandular epithelium. in highly dilated G.E.R. cisterns of the storma cells, fibrous materials vere decected in intercellular areas, abundant collogenes vere observed. Tissue eosihophils are also observed. Lihgt and elecktron microskopic studies of the recovery group uteri revealed identical properties vith the control group.
