Abstract
63 SUMMARY In this research which is done in a public maritime arsenal employing 4434 employees and which is based on ill- health absence enlistments, 51 male employees working in manif acturing department who have taken ill-health leaves most frequestly are grouped as experimental group, 49 male employees working in administrative control, planning and technical drawing departments of the factories whose ill- health, leaves level is lower are grouped as control group and these two groups are evaluated according to their mental and social structures in order to see if these items differ significantly between the two groups. In the first step of the study an inquiry for is given to the employees in the experimental and control groups aiming to determine the demographic and environmental characteristics, and the date obtained is evaluated comparing the results of `chi-square`, `student-t` tests. In the second step of the study in order to determine the personality disorders of the employees in experimental and control groups Cornell Index personality test, to find out the reasons causing stress and to measure their stress levels Stress Origin scala, to measure their anxiety and care levels STAI FORM Anxiety scale, and to measure their general intelegence and discernment capabilities and their IQ level Cattell Intelegence test 2A are applied. The date obtained from the tests above are evaluated making comparisons between the experiment and control groups using `chi-square` and `student-t` tests. As a result, according to the datas obtained above, we can reach to the followings:62 İşletmenin üretim (deney) ve idari (kontrol bölümlerinden alınan işgörenlerin hastalık devamsızlıkları hem grup ortalaması olarak (22.03 ± 21.82 ve 9.29 ± 9.20) hem de nonparametrik olarak (Tablo: 1) değerlendirildiğinde iki grup arasında anlamlı fark bulunmuştur (0.01 <P< 0.05). İki grup arasındaki hastalık devamsızlığı farkı, tez bulgularına göre, Deney grubunun çalışma ortamı çevre koşullarının iyi olmamasına; dolayısıyla hastalık ve kaza oluşturmasına; aynı grup bireylerinin kötü çevre koşullarından kaynaklanabil en hastalıklar ile başa çıkma mücadelesi verirken ortaya çıkan yüksek anksiyete ve nevrozite düzeyine; işe ulaşırken yolda harcadıkları zamanın fazlalığına ve işlerinin daha yorucu olmasına bağlanabilir. Deney grubunun izin sürelerini az bulmaları da bu durumu açıklamaktadır. Deney grubunda anlamlı seviyede görülen adil disiplin düzeni isteği ise verilen görevlerin tartış ılamamasından ve askeri bir disiplin ortamında görev yapmalarından olabilir. As a result, according to the datas obtained above, we can reach to the followings:64 When the ill-health absences of the employees chosen from manifacturing (experimental group) and administrative (Control group) departments of the company are evaluated, it has been found that there exists a significant difference (0.01<P<0.01 and 22.03 ± 21.82) and also a significant difference is found on non-parametric scales (Tablo I). The results of the thesis les us conclude that the ill-health absence differences are due to the fact that the pure environmental conditions of the experimental group that causes them to deal with more diseases and accidents creates high anxiety and neurosity levels, the fact that they spend more time on the way to reach their job and to the fact that they deal with higher tasks than the members of the other group with regard to these, the members of this group find their vacancies too short. The desire for a `Fair and just discipline system` in the experimental group can be caused by the facts that the tasks given to them can by means be discussed and that they work under an army alike discipline. The ill-health absences in the control group maybe less because they have high responsibilities which cause them to be more insistent to go to work.
