Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate the capability of Black and Scholes Model?s in forecasting the price movements of Intermediary Institution Warrants that are traded in ISE Collective Products Market. For this research, data of 319 warrants traded between the dates of 13.08.2010 and 30.03.2012 are used. These 319 warrants used 12 different stocks and ISE 30 Index as underlying assets. While using Black and Scholes Model, 6 different sub-models are constructed by using volatility and interest rate parameters. Out of these 6 models the one that closely forecasts market prices is determined in the research.Forecasting error statistics show that the sub-model that uses CBRT?s policy interest rate and 90 day volatility data had the highest capacity to forecast market prices. On the other hand, the results obtained by forecasting error statistics were evaluated, it was seen that the sub-models constructed by using 90 and 180-day volatility data are more successful than the sub-models constructed by using 5 day -volatility data. This indicates that sub-models that use CBRT?s policy interest rate are more successful than the sub-models that use market benchmark interest rate in forecasting the market prices.
