Abstract

The present work,which is carried out about the stress corrosion cracking, can be classified into three sections. Since the stress corrosion cracking is a kind of fracture, the stress corrosion cracking and fracture has been studied according to the fracture mechanics, in the first section. In the second and the last sections, stress corrosion cracking mechanisms and stress corrosion cracking on the stainless steel have been studied respectively. The samples are used in this research have been obtained from a fertilizer and chemical plants located in this region. The samples are chosen from stainless steel equipments which are used in acidic environment and under some stress. The specimens have been examined metallographically, and mechanism of the stress corrosion of stainless steel in acidic environments has been studied. During the present research, investigations have been carried out in fertilizer and chemical plant, and the collected datas have been studied, and finally preventive methods have been suggested.
