Abstract

Even a well desjgned jrrjgatjon system may notprovjde the expected benefjts jf jt js not managed properly.A system evaluatjon should measure and show the effectjvenessof exjstjng irrigatjon practice. Careful study of thesystem evaluatjon will jndicate whether jmprovements canbe made and will provjde management with a reasoned basjsfor selectjng possjble modjfjcatjons that may be bothpractical and economjcal.Evaluation study has been carrjed on a drjp irrigatjonsystem installed on a 6-year old lQmon orchard at theResearch Farm of the Agricultural Faculty of ~ukurovaUnjversity in 1984. As a result of the research, varjationin system pressure was found to be 11 percent; emissjonuniformity 84 %; percentage of wetted area 19 %; potentialwater applicatjon efficjency 67 %; and water appljcatjoneffjcjency 74 '.t.
