Abstract
SUMMARY Usability of Starch in Coating.` The purpose of this study was to select the papers that have the highest degree of physical and optical properties and printability. Because of two different base paper were coated on the Dixon-pilot coater. Properties of base paper A and B and their mixture are listed in table 13 and 14. Three different starch of AVABE were used in the coating mixture Other chemicals were chosen from SEKA - Dalaman coating unit. 13% of total binder (styrene - butadien latex and oxidised potato starch) in the coating mixture, were used The coating mixture was prepared in a Kady Mill for 10 minutes and adjusted to 60% solid (dry content) and pH 7.5-8. The viscosity measured in a Brookfield viscosimeter at 100 r. p.m.. Dixon-Pilot coater was used for coating. The coated papers were calendered by passing through the nips of a super calender. The properties of the coated papers were evaluated by ordinary laboratory methods at the laboratory of SEKA -Dalaman mill. The papers were conditioned to 50% RH and 23 °C prior to the measurements. Table 24-25 shows the results of properties. And also, statistical calculations were applied on the results (F and T Tests) Perfectamyl A 4692, that used at the range of 7-9 % together with latex, were found the best for all properties. 103 SUMMARY Usability of Starch in Coating.` The purpose of this study was to select the papers that have the highest degree of physical and optical properties and printability.
