Abstract
SUMMARY The Qualitative - Quantitative Analysis of Cephalopods From the Northern Aegean Sea And Growth - Reproductive Biology of the Economically Important Species In this research, cephalopods from the relatively unpolluted water of northern part of Aegean Sea, (north-eastern part of 39°25'N and 25°20'E Gulf of Saros, Gökçeada Island and Babakale Cape, were studied in terms of their economic importance in fisheries. The samples which were obtained from between October 1 996 and September 2000 in North Aegean Sea, were analysed quantitatively and qualitatively identified as 22 species to 3 orders and 6 families. After the qualitative and quantitative analysis of the samples caught 22 different species representing 6 different families belonging to 3 different orders were verified. Octopus defilippi was determined for the first time in Turkish coastal waters in this study. As a result of the analysis accomplished 3 dominant species ( Sepia officinalis, Illex coindetii, Eledone cirrhosa ) belonging to the economically important species were determined and then the growth - reproductive biology were examined. The results obtained from the observes established are as follows; the mantle length and weight of Sepia officinalis 63mm, 42.6g, 190mm(Ş), 697g(Ş), 2Almm{S), 852g(c?); Illex coindetii 38mm, 2.6g, 248mm(Ş), 231g(Ş), ^mm^), 165g(c?); Eledone cirrhosa 21mm, 4g, 136mm(Ş), 485g(Ş), /Q5xam(<S), 285g((5v); The reproduction period was determined to be occurring all through the summer between spring and autumn Illex The reproduction period was determined to be occurring between the late May and early July. The maximum length of the eggs was 1 mm. The mantle length of Eledone cirrhosa. The reproduction period was determined to be occurring between May - July. VII
