Abstract
Reçinede tutulmayan PETN'a geliştirilen yöntem uygulanarak miktar tayini yapılmıştır. Geliştirilen miktar tayin yöntemi literatürde mevcut GC-MS yöntemine karşı t- ve F- testleri kullanılarak istatistiksel olarak valide edilmiştir. Recent increase in shape and variety of the explosives used requires more fundamental studies about their properties. There are new detection possibilities, increasing the vapor pressure of a sample (containing trace amounts of nonvolatile explosive like PETN) by heating creates the possibility of making them traceable. While stationary laboratories accommodate sophisticated instrumental techniques such as gas chromatography (GC), high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and ion mobility spectrometry (IMS) equipped with mass spectrometric (MS) detectors, spectrophotometry is a low-cost and advantageous alternative to these expensive and complex methods. In this thesis work, nitrate based energetic material, pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN) was determined with a spectroscopic method for rapid determination of nitrate ester. The method is based on the spectrophotometric determination of nitrite, obtained by reduction of nitrate, a hydrolysis product of PETN with H2O2. The resulting nitrite is used for forming colored products using Griess reagent and AuNP-4-ATP (gold nanoparticle modified with 4–aminothiophenol (4-ATP)) individually along with a coupling reagent N-(1-naphthyl) ethylene diammine (NED) for forming azo dye. Finally the absorbance of the colored product is measured. Indirect determination ranges of PETN are established as 2-10 mg L-1 at 542 nm wavelength with Griess method and 10-50 mg L-1 at 562 wavelength with AuNP-4-ATP method. After that calibration curves are established between these ranges. The analytical performance characteristics of the developed methods for the analytes as molar absorptivity (ε); limit of detection (LOD) and limit of quantification (LOQ) are as follows: Griess method, ɛ=1.06x105L mol-1 cm-1; LOD=0,03 mg L-1 ve LOQ=0,11 mg L-1. AuNP-4-ATP method ɛ=1,9x104 L mol-1 cm-1; LOD=0,12 mg L-1 ve LOQ=0,4 mg L-1. Both methods were applied to an 1:1 ratio mixture (by weight) of PETN and TNT (Pentolite is a military explosive consisting of PETN and TNT with a mixture ratio of 1:1 (by weight)). In order to eliminate the interference effect of TNT in pentolite, the Meisenheimer anion of TNT is formed in the binary mixture in alkaline medium, followed by passing the solution through a strongly basic anion exchange resin, Lewatit Monoplus M 500, column. Under these conditions, the TNT anion is retained by the resin and separated from PETN which does not form an anion. The developed method is applied to the separated PETN. The developed method is statistically validated against GC-MS method existing in the literature using t- and F- tests.
