Abstract
In this thesis, detailed investigation of an experiment performed on two-body electron capture decay of Hydrogen-like 142Pm60+ ions, at GSI heavy ion research center in Germany in 2014 and the results are discussed. The decay constant λ value is obtained from the fit of exponential decay function and compared with the λ values obtained from another 2008 and 2010 electron capture experiments. In addition, amplitude and frequency values of special fit function namely modulated exponential function, are observed for electron capture decay of 142Pm60+ ions. These values will enlighten the pathway for future experiment on the bound state beta decay of 205Tl. Also accelerator, detector and cooling systems and methods which have been used for the two-body electron capture decay of 142Pm60+ ions, are discussed in details. In addition, results of this thesis contributes to the studies that focused on detailed investigation of formation of heavy elements (nucleosynthesis) with rapid neutron capture process so called r-process.
