dc.description.abstract | Balkans is one of the chains of the eastern question policy that was put forward as a mixture of political and religious enthusiasm of the western word. The christian people living should have been from the Muslim-Turkish domination. For this reason, from second half of 19th century, new states were founded with the support of the western countries. These states used force in order to assimilate the Turkish population living there. At the end, an immigration movement began throug Turkey from the Balkans. Turkey has faced some economic and social problems with the immigration movement concerning hundreds of thousands of Turks. In spite of the limited conditions, Turkey has tried to help those Turks migrating to Turkey. But, what is important is we are in deep sorrow as a nation to see the Turks in Rumeli being sent to our country in terrible conditions as happened 78 years ago. | en_US |
