Mimarlıkta temsil kavramının sınırları: Örnekler üzerinden bir inceleme

Abstract

Mimarlıktaki alternatif söylemler, temsiller ve üretimler, mimarlığın sınırlarını genişleten, onu çok yönlü ve çok dilli yapan olgulardır. Bu sayede mimari yeni kavram ve tartışmalar mimarlığa dahil olabilmektedir. Her yeni yaklaşım ve üretim mimarlıkla farklı ilişkiler kurar. Bu tez, alternatif mimari temsil araç ve yöntemlerinin mimari üretimlerle ilişkisini tasarım süreci, söylem ve sonuç ürünler üzerinden nasıl ve hangi verilerle mimarlıktaki temsil kavramının sınırlarının tartışılabileceği sorusuna cevap aramaktadır. Bu bağlamda çalışma, okuma ve araştırmalar sonucunda mimari temsil ve anlatıda alternatif üretim ve söylemleriyle öne çıkan, kendi mimari bilgi sistemlerini kuran ve özgün duruşa sahip güncel isimlerden Perry Kulper, Smout-Allen, Neil Spiller ve Nat Chard'ın çalışmaları incelenerek hazırlanmıştır. Kavramsal altyapı ile teorik bilgi edinimi sağlandıktan sonra geçmiş ve güncel mimari temsil yöntem, araç ve anlatı örnekleri araştırılmıştır. Mimari temsil ve anlatının hangi kavramlar üzerinden tartışılacağı sorusuyla ortak kavramlara ulaşılmak hedeflenmiştir. Bu kavramlar ışığında seçilen mimarların üretimleri değerlendirilerek farklı ve benzer kullanım biçimleri, mimarlıkla kurulan ilişikleri ve mimari temsilin sınırları örnekler üzerinden tartışılmıştır. Özgün ve alternatif yaklaşımlara sahip bu mimarların mimari söylem ve üretimleri incelendiğinde, mimari temsil bağlamında `hibrit yöntem, anlatı, uzamsal ilişki ve manipülasyon` kavramlarının öne çıktığı görülmüştür. Her ismin bu kavramları özgün kullanımı, mimari temsilin sınırlarını genişletmek anlamında önemli katalizörler olarak değerlendirilmiştir. Bu tez çalışması, mimarlığın alternatif temsil araç ve yöntemleri ile anlatı yönünden kurduğu ilişkileri kavramlar üzerinden incelemekte ve çalışmanın sonuçlarının mimari temsil tartışmalarına katkı sağlaması beklenmektedir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Mimari temsil, anlatı, alternatif mimarlık, hibrit yöntem, uzamsal ilişki

Alternative discourses, representations and works in architecture are phenomena that expand the limits of architecture and make it versatile and multilingual. This way, new concepts, and discussions can be included in the architecture. Each new approach and work establishes different relations with architecture. This thesis seeks to answer the question of how and with what data the relationship between alternative architectural representation tools and methods and architectural works can be discussed through the design process, discourse, and end works. In this context, the works of Perry Kulper, Smout-Allen, Neil Spiller and Nat Chard, who are prominent with their alternative productions and discourses in architectural representation and narrative as a result of studying, reading and research, and established their architectural information systems and have a unique stance, were studied. After obtaining theoretical knowledge of the conceptual infrastructure, past and current architectural representation methods, tools and narrative examples were analysed. Then by asking which concepts are related to architectural representation and narrative, it is aimed to reach common concepts. In the light of these concepts, the works of the selected architects were evaluated and different and similar usage patterns, their relations with architecture and the limits of architectural representation were discussed through examples. When the architectural discourse and productions of these architects with original and alternative approaches are examined, it is seen that the concepts of `hybrid method, narrative, spatial relationship and manipulation` come to the fore within the context of architectural representation. Each architect's unique use of these concepts has been considered an important catalyst for expanding the limits of architectural representation.Keywords: Architectural representation, narrative, alternative architecture, hybrid method, spatial relationship
