Müslüman-Haçlı denkleminde bir düzen arayışı: Belek B. Behram (1094-1124)

Abstract

Selçukluların kuruluşundan beri Artuklular dedeleri Eksük'ten itibaren devlet nezdinde çeşitli faaliyetlerde bulunmuştur. Selçuklu coğrafyasında iktidar mücadeleleri ve yönetimin değişim yaşadığı bir dönemde Artuklu ailesi tekrar ön plana çıkmıştır. Ayrıca Haçlıların bölgeye gelerek Kudüs başta olmak üzere Urfa ve Antakya'da idareler kurması yeni mücadelelerin yaşanmasına yol açmıştır. Artuklu üyeleri Haçlılara karşı katıldıkları bu mücadelelerde çok önemli başarılar elde etmiştir. Artuklular Haçlılara karşı Sökmen'le Harran'da elde ettiği başarılar İlgazi, Kanlı Meydan savaşıyla devam ettirmiştir. İşte bu çetin dönemde Artuk Bey'in iki oğlu Sökmen ve İlgazi ile beraber torunu Belek b. Behram da ön plana çıkmıştır. Amcalarından sancağı devralan Belek'in Kudüs Haçlı Kralı ve Urfa Kontu'nu esir alması Müslümanlar ve Haçlılar arasındaki mücadelenin bundan sonraki süreçte gidişatını belirlemiştir. Artukluların Haçlılara karşı elde ettiği başarıları onları İslâm dünyasında zirveye taşımıştır. Ayrıca bu başarıları oldukça etkili bir algı oluşturmakla beraber bazı müelliflerin Belek'i benzetmelerle tasvir etmesine yol açmıştır. Fulcherius'un Ejderha'ya, Urfalı Mateos'un Kartal'a ve Anonim Süryani'nin ise bir Kurt'a benzettikleri Belek; İslâm dünyasında dinin övüncü, emirlerin güneşi, mücahidlerin kılıcı ve meliklerin oku gibi unvanlarla anılmıştır. Belek yaptığı faaliyetlerle Alp-Gazi'lik geleneğinin önde gelen temsilcileri arasındaki saygın yerini hakkıyla almıştır. Tezimiz genelde Artukluların özelde ise Belek'in hayatı üzerinden bölgedeki Müslüman-Haçlı mücadelelerini ele almakla beraber, Haçlıların bu coğrafyada varlıklarını devam ettirme çabalarını da ortaya koymayı hedeflemektedir.

Since the establishment of the Seljuks, Artuqids grandfathers have been involved in various activities before the state since Eksük. At a time when there were power struggles and changes in the administration in the Seljuk geography, the Artuqid family came to the fore again. In addition, the Crusaders coming to the region and establishing administrations in Urfa and Antakya, especially in al-Quds, led to new struggles. Artuqid members achieved great success in these struggles against the Crusaders. The successes of the Artuqids against the Crusaders with Sökmen in Harran continued with the Ilgazi, Bloody field war. In this difficult period, together with Artuk Bey's two sons Sökmen and İlgazi, his grandson Belek b. Bahram also came to the fore. Belek, who took over the banner from his uncles, captured the Crusader King of Jerusalem and the Count of Urfa, and determined the course of the struggle between Muslims and Crusaders in the next period. The successes of the Artuqids against the Crusaders brought them to the top in the Islamic world. In addition, these achievements created a very effective perception and led some authors to describe Belek with analogies. Belek, which Fulcherius likened to a Dragon, Mateos from Urfa to an Eagle, and Anonymous Syriac to a Wolf; In the Islamic world, it has been referred to with titles such as the pride of religion, the sun of the amirs, the sword of the mujahideen and the arrow of the kings. Belek has deservedly taken its respected place among the leading representatives of the Alp-Gazi tradition with its activities. While our thesis deals with the struggles of the Muslim-Crusade in the region through the life of Artuks in general and Belek in particular, it also aims to reveal the efforts of the Crusaders to continue their existence in this geography.
