2004, 118 sayfa Anahtar Kelimeler: Amik Ovası, toprak, kimyasal ve fiziksel özelliklerIV ABSTRACT DETERMINATION OF BASIC CHEMICAL AND PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE SOILS IN THE AMİK PLAIN The aim of this study was to determine basic chemical and physical properties of soil series in the Amik Plain. 131 disturbed soil samples, on horizon base, were sampled from 29 soil series detemined in the investigation area. The following soil characteristics were analysed: pH, total disolved salts, calcium carbonate equivalent, organic matter, cation exchange capacity (CEC), exchangeable cations (EC), and texture. Soils that most of them clay textured have clay content 10.0-88.1%, pH 7.21- 8.42, total dissolved salts 0.020-0.780%, exchangeable Na 0.22-2.51 me/100 g, ESP 0.73-7.72, calcium carbonate equivalent 1.40-70.30%, organic matter 0.10-22.04%, and CEC 10.93-68.36 me/100 g. Important soil problems in the study area were: salinity, heavy texture, very high carbonate content, and inadequate organic matter content. Alkalinity problem was not observed in the soils. 2004, 118 pages Key words: Amik plain, soil, chemical and physical properties
