Sixth chapter contains the information on the `medrese`. After definition and the system of medrese education is given, architectural evolution of the medrese until the 17th century is summarised. Seventh chapter is reserved for the medrese and the sıbyan mektebi. All the spaces of the building is described in detail. The elements and the features -that of facades, roofing, etc., are studied separately in terms of technique, material, architectural style and decoration. Deteriorations, additions and changes in the building are determined and presented in 1/100 scaled drawings. Eight chapter is composed of the comparison of Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Paşa Medresesi with the other examples of medrese buildings of the Classical Ottoman architecture. Ninth chapter includes reconstruction proposals, which are based on the information derived from the excavations, documents and the traces of the physical evidence of the building and also on the comparison of the building with it's period medrese buildings, are described. The tenth chapter contains proposals for the restoration and re-use of the medrese. According to the current understanding, the building should continue to being used in order to provide the durability and effectiveness of conservation. In this case, the persistence of original function is preferred. However, if the original function has lost its vitality, the proposed one should be as attached to the original function as possible. In the Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Paşa Complex, for the buildings, functions of which are still extant, as the bath, arasta and the mosque, it is proposed that they are to be rectified and continue their original functions. However, kervansaray, medrese and the sıbyan mektebi are buildings, functions of which are not prevailed for today. Kervansaray, as it is on the route to Ürgüp, can be utilised in touristic functions. xvui
The same situation also valid for the thesis subject, that is the building which houses the sıbyan mektebi and the medrese. Proposals for the re-use in the restoration project involves functions which would not destroy the original value of the building. The social structure of the town and the wishes of the townspeople are also taken into consideration. Consequently, it is suggested that the medrese will be converted into a `public education centre` and sıbyan mektebi into a `childrens library`. The restoration project is designed according to the principle that the new functions should be applied to the building without destroying the mass and space characteristics of it.
