Sekizinci sınıf öğrencilerinin bilimsel süreç becerilerini ölçmeye yönelik bir test geliştirme çalışması

Abstract

Bu çalışmanın amacı; ortaokul 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin günlük yaşamda karşılaşabilecekleri problem durumlarına yönelik hazırlanmış, bilimsel süreç becerilerini ölçmeyi hedefleyen, Fen ve Teknoloji dersi öğretim programından bağımsız, hem açık uçlu soruların hem de çoktan seçmeli soruların yer aldığı, iki aşamalı, geçerli ve güvenilir bir 'Bilimsel Süreç Becerileri Testi' geliştirmektir.Bu amaç doğrultusunda 37 tane çoktan seçmeli ve 13 tanede açık uçlu soru bulunan toplamda 50 maddelik bir havuz oluşturulmuştur. Kapsam geçerliğini sağlamak amacıyla uzman görüşü alınmış ve gelen dönütler doğrultusunda 43 tane madde ile birinci pilot uygulama gerçekleştirilmiştir. Ölçeğin birinci pilot uygulaması sonucunda, bazı çoktan seçmeli maddeler ölçekten çıkartılırken bazı maddelerde ise düzeltmeye gidilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra açık uçlu soru sayısı azaltılmıştır. Güvenirlik analizi sonucunda ise ölçeğin güvenirlik katsayısı (KR-20) 0.84 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Yapılan düzenlemelerin ardından 32 çoktan seçmeli ve 6 açık uçlu maddelik halini alan ölçek Balıkesir il merkezinde bulunan 9 ortaokulda öğrenim gören 719 öğrenciye uygulanarak ikinci pilot uygulaması yapılmıştır. Uygulama sonrasında ölçeğin güvenirlik katsayısı (KR-20) 0.79 olarak saptanmıştır. İkici pilot uygulama sonrasında yapılan madde analizlerinde, birinci pilot uygulama sonrasında düzeltilen maddelerin yine madde ayırt edicilik ve güçlük indeksinin beklenen değerler arasında çıkmamasından dolayı ölçekten çıkarılmıştır. Son halini alan ölçeğin güvenirlik katsayısı (KR-20) 0.81 olup madde güçlük indeksi ortalaması 0.47 ve madde ayırt edicilik indeksi ortalaması ise 0.56 olarak tespit edilmiştir. Çalışmanın sonucunda ortaokul 8. sınıf öğrencilerinin Bilimsel Süreç Becerilerini; Fen ve Teknoloji dersi öğretim programından bağımsız, günlük yaşamda karşılaşabilecekleri problem durumlarıyla oluşturulmuş olan hem açık uçlu soruların hem de çoktan seçmeli soruların yer aldığı iki aşamalı, geçerli ve güvenilir bir test geliştirilmiştir.

The purpose of this study is to develop a two-stage, reliable and valid ' Science Process Skills Test ' which is prepared for problem situations faced by 8th grade students in everyday life, aims at measuring scientific process skills, is independent of Science and Technology education program, is composed of both multiple-choice and open-ended questions.For this purpose, a pool of totally 50 items 37 of which are multiple-choice and 13 of which are open-ended questions was created. Expert opinions were reviewed in order to ensure the content validity and first pilot application was conducted with 43 items in accordance with these feedbacks.As a result of the first pilot application of the scale, some multiple-choice items were removed from the scale and some were fixed. Additionally, the number of open-ended questions was reduced. As a result of the reliability analysis, the reliability coefficient (KR-20) of the scale was found to be 0.84. After having fixed the items, the second pilot application of the scale including 32 multiple-choice and 6 open-ended questions was conducted to 719 students studying in nine secondary schools in Balıkesir province. After the second application, the reliability coefficient (KR -20) was found to be 0.79. The item analysis conducted after the second pilot application proved that the indexes of discrimination and difficulty of the items that were fixed after the first pilot application were found again not to be between the expected values, so these items were removed from the scale. The final version of the scale was developed and it was found that its reliability coefficient (KR-20) is 0.81, its average index of item difficulty is 0.47 and average index of item discrimination is 0.56.As a result of the study, a two-stage, valid and reliable test which measures scientific process skills of the 8th grade students in secondary school, is independent of Science and Technology education program, is created with problem situations faced in everyday life, is composed of multiple-choice and open-ended questions was developed.
