Thesis, 20057KHVLV6XSHUYLVRU$VVRF3URI'U<ÃOPD]$6/$1SUMMARYIn this study, a digital fault location and monitoring technique using ProgrammableLogic Controller (PLC) for overhead power distribution lines is presented. This techniqueemploys pre- and post-fault current and voltage information along with data from laterals. Inthis method a knowledge based algorithm is incorporated to the superimposed componentsbased fault location and monitoring algorithm to locate shunt faults in radial power distributionlines with sub-feeders. By transferring current information from sub-feeders to the substation,through Shielded Twisted Pair (STP) cables the possibility of multiple fault point locations areeliminated.
