L AND ECHOCARDIOGRAPHIC ANALYSIS WITH SHORT-TERM CAPTOPRIL THERAPY IN CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE SUMMARY In this study 20 in-patients who were treated between December 1987-April 1988 ıin Cumhuriyet Univer sity, Medical Faculty Hospital and other hospitals in Sivas, were chosen and included. The clinical evaluations and echocardiographic analysis of the cases were made, and following the treatment with oral captopril 75 mg per-day which losted 10 days, the echocardiographic analysis and clinical evaluations were repeated. In consequence, most of the patients with conges tive heart failure improved and passed into lower NYHA class whereas in two patients with NYHA class IV no change was observed. It was observed that after-treatment, systolic- dlastolic and mean arteriel pressures of the cases decreased in comparision with bef ore-treatment. In echocardiographic examination, no significant change were observed with LVID,,SST. The decrease's with LVID, PSS, ESS and EPSS and the increases with s' Vcf, EF, FS were found to be significantly meaningful. As a result, cardiac performance improved signi ficantly with oral captopril therapy in congestive heart failure.en_US
