In this study, we have studied, using EMG, the effects of dentures we have made byroutine techniques in individuals classified under Kennedy I and II on Masseter andTemporalis Anterior muscles in various test foodchewing and maximal clenchingfunctions. Our study comprised a total of 30 subjects with mean ages and sexes as given:Kennedy I: 39.50 ± 2.63, with 6 being female and 4 being male, Kennedy II: 39.60 ± 2.22,with 4 being female and 6 being male, Control: 38.40 ± 2.17, with 5 being female and 5being male. The effects of dentures made by routine techniques on chewing muscles havebeen checked in months 1 and 3, causing the subjects to chew 3 grams of hazelnut, 3grams of chewing gum and make a maximal squeeze of 5 seconds.More increase observed in chewing functions in Kennedy II dentures compared tothe Kenndy I group in the masseter and temporalis anterior muscles on the teethless-ending side. Data obtained from these groups were low compared to the data fromindividuals with natural teeth. There was no difference between Kennedy I and IIduring maximal squeeze, while muscle activation yielded highest activation inindividuals with normal teeth.en_US
