ABSTRACT Urfa was established by Selevkos1 B.C. 302. The city, which was established on a place that is very strategic as a military and trade centre became the most important colony centre of the region during the Roman rule. The city also became a religious centre for the Eastern Chirstianity of the IV. century. Beacuse of its strategical pasition, it was the most important military and religious centre of the region in the middle Age. ît was also an important trade centre of that era. This can be also understood from the civil and religious buildings of that era.
