Antimikrobiyal duyarlılık testleri BD PhoenixTM-100 otomatize sistemle (Becton Dickinsin, Diagnostic Instrument Systems, Sparks USA), Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) göre yapıldı.Çalışmada 657 su örneğinin 98'inden (%14.92) Enterococcus türleri izole edildi.
The aim of study was to investigate the presence of Enterococcus spp. in the drinking and potable waters and to determine the antimicrobial resistance of isolated strains. For this propose, a total of 657 water samples were collected from Sivas province and its districts. Water samples were analyzed according to the membrane filtration method. The culture of the samples, Slanet-Bartley and bile-esculin-azide agar were used. The strains were identified by BD PhoenixTM-100 Automated System (Becton Dickinson, Diagnostic Instrument System, Sparks, USA). Antibiotic susceptibility tests were performed by BD PhoenixTM-100 Automated System (Becton Dickinson, Diagnostic Instrument System, Sparks, USA) according to the standards of Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI).Enterococus strains were isolated from 98 (14.9%) of 657 water samples in the study. 47 (47.9%) were E. faecalis, 36 (36.7%) were E. faecium, 9 (9.2%) were E.gallinarum, 3 (3.1%) were E. durans and 3 (3.1%) E.hirae a total of 98 Enterococus strains. The resistance rates of the 98 isolates for penicillin and high level gentamisin were 2.04% and 1.02% respectively. All of the strains were susceptible to vancomycin, teicoplanin and daptomycin. Only one strain was found to be intermediate resistance to linezolid. When the range of the enterococcus strains were analyzed according to the location as statistically, the important differences were found (p<0.05). The highest enterococcus isolation rate was found in July (17.2%). As a result, the strains of Enterococus were isolated in water samples of 16 districts.en_US
