Abstract

ABSTRACT Quality control in industrial business forms one of the most important components of the production system. As it will be mentioned in the following chapters, a lot of techniques have been developed since the Second World War. Consequently, a successful application of quality control is only achieved through choosing the most suitahle technique for the process. Standart control techniques which are based upon the supposition that observation values are normally distributed, are generally helpful in investigating wheter the control limits are within the statistic related to the process. Hov/ever, when the point the parameter related with the process shows considerable variation, these techniques will not be sufficient for the decision maker. Such kind of deficiences can be overcome by using cumulative sum control techniques in application. In this study entitled `Cumulative Sum Control Techniques in Quality Control and Application Practice` the technique menti oned has been investigated in detail and this technique hasbeen put into practice with the collected data from a company which produces the endurable consumer goods. This study consists of three chapters. In the first chapter, the concepts of quality and quality control have been introduced and in the second chapter cumulative sum control techniques have been reviewed in detail and lastly the third chapter has been devoted to applications related with the cumulative sum control techniques stated in the second chapter,
