dc.description.abstract
Y The relation between epilepsy and sleep has been taken in to consideration for a long time because of the clinical observations of some epileptic seizures that occur only during sleep and similarities between the main hyperphysiological mechanisms of epilepsy like neuronal synchronization and hyperexcitability also exist in the stages of sleep. The sleep.it self with its complicated network, unstable mechanisms and neurotransmitters may trigger the epileptic seizure(65). MATERIALS AND METHOD In this study, 22 patients (9 male,13 female) with pure nocturnal epilepsy qnd 10 healthy individuals (5 male, 5 female) were included and their spontenous night sleeping video EEG monitorisations were taken. The types of epileptic seizures, the pathological findings of routine EEG and longterm EEG of hte cases were learned from their hospital files. And night sleeping video EEG findings were compared with them. Also the findings of video EEG monitorization and patients diesaes history were compared. The ratio of epileptic focus detection was studied. The values of alfa and sleep spindle frequencies and amplitudes were determined by doing spectral analysis with Fourier Analyses. The effect of epileptic activity on the grafo elements of sleep was compared with the values of pathological hemisphere.normal hemisphere and the values of control group. 51en_US
