dc.description.abstractSUMMARY THE EXAMINATION OF İN- SERVİCE EDUCATİON PROGRAMMES ON NURSES AT STATE HOSPİTALS OF HEALTH MINISTRY İN THE CITY OF İZMİR FİLİZ KANTEK This study has been planned, as a descriptive öne, to examine the current situation of in-service training programmes for nurses at state hospitals of Health Ministry in the city of izmir. The study covers the nurse who work at 6 hospitals of Health Ministry in the city of izmir and who 've participated in education programme at least tvvice. Ali of the education coordinators are included in the research. in order to collect data for the research, 3 data collection forms and observation technique based on related literatüre, have been used..Form 1- The data collection form vvhich includes the information abtained form abservation forms,.Form 2- The In-Service Education evaluation form of In-Service education coordinators,.Form 3- Education programmes evaluation form of the nurse who have participated in the in-service education. in the evaluation of data, frequency analysis has been made by using. BMDP (Bio Medical Data Processing) package programmes. Data have been collected betvveen 5 January- 30 March, 1998. VVhen the in-service education observation forms are examined, it's been found that the aims and methods of education tools and materials and evaluation of the education are not sufficiently defined. It's also been determined that 83.4% of the nurse who--participated in the inT>, service education have been informed about the aims of the programme, 53.8 % of them need the subject of the programme and 70.9 % of them haven't approved the content of the education subject it's been seen that there are deficiencies when the education programme is carried out 71.7% of the nurses have used sbme of the knovvledge they received from in-service education in thein vvorking enviranment52.0% of the in-service education participants have stated that in-service education programmes contribute to the development of Self-confidence, 65.6% of them stated that they contribute to the development of professional knowledge skills and abilities, 55.5% of the participant nurses have stated that those programmes also contribute to the development of communication establishing abilities. 84.0% of the nurses have declared that in-service education programmes do not have any contribution asfor being raised to a higher rank in their programme have said that the same programmes do not contribute for gaining respect in or out of the hospital.
