dc.description.abstract | By the impove of information and communication technology, transportationsector entered in a big evaluation on highway, airline and maritime line. E-commerceinstruments like internet and computer become vitally important for transportationcompanies.Before the study, the theoratical dimension of the subject was detaily examinedby the literature search and it was determined that not any study was done beforerelated to this sector. This study is focused on to examine the e-commerce applicationsof passenger transportation companies and their views of e-commerce by field research.Questionnaire application was done to 107 passenger highway transportationcompanies. To evaluate questionnaire results, firts of all frequency distrubition anddiagonally distrubition was checked. Then to analyze data, Khi Square and Correlationanalysis was done by SPSS. As a result it was determined that most of the companies?e-commerce activities are advertisements and presentations from web site and widelyactive online reservations and sales from intranet.As a result of this study, it is found that many of these companies use intranetsystem for online sales and reservations with the assist of a special program focused onintranet applications. Besides companies establish web sites for their advertisement andpresentation activities. The study determined that sales and reservations from web sitesare done by few large companies.The results of this study shows that highway passenger transportation companiesare in the adaption period of this electronic environment. Small and big companiesshould use the same path according to success in this high competitive conditions. | en_US |
