Abstract

132 ÂBS f HAC E İt has exactly been accepted by both historians and nen of letters that the poetry has a great importance in the Arabian society* They hare been very successful in expressing their fellings and thoughts through poems. The poems coning from this period are means of communication and provide us with. detailed information about the lifestyles of Bedouin people and they have been a historical evidence for the future generations,, Meanwhile the poet served as a translator for his society in giving them information about the economic and moral features of the tribe he lived in and in doing so he was representative of his society as a sound leader» scholar and diplomat. In this study we accepted to deal with ` the- poetry and women poets,? in the pre -Islamic period» Because since the women had their creative powers in this age» there have been many women poets. These poets sincerely wrote their elegies and satires aganist the hostile tribes so that they could encourage their own tribes to take the revenge of the people killed in the long-term tribal battles. In this regard» it is suprising for us that we don't have any documents written in Turkish though these women poets had a great influence in the Arabic literature. We began our study with an introduction suggesting the political « literary and social colours of this society in order to cast a light upon the way of life of these people. We prepared our study in two parts. In the first we studied the poetry in the pre-Islamic period.
