dc.description.abstract63 SUMMARY Montherlant is^a dramatist who is yearning of the past and giving traditional works. The cause of his literary genuine depends on antiquity and the classics. With this feature, he has been parted from his contemporaries and has shown traditional and classic works. He, in his dramatic works, has tried to present the function of human soul by means of the characters he created as he did in his classics. In this study we tried to study on technique and thematic features of Montherlant ' s La Reine Morte. In the technique we proved his traditional and classical functions by means of character, language, dramatisation. We have observed the classic and the antique similarities by comparing his Corneille on the aspect of character. And we explained that La Reine Morte have formed a character. For the aspect of language we have observed that Montherlant ' s persons spoke same with Racine's, Corneille' s and Shakespeare's persons. Montherlant has shown great similarities with the classic theatre, in drama, costume, and decoration. As in classics the place has been purified from decoration whereas the persons has been purified from costume and accessories. So in the64- technical part, we have shown that Montherlant has followed the classics in characters, language and accessory. In the thematic part, we have tried to study the themes in the titles of Peur and Amour. And we have seen that his themes were also classic. Love, death, fear, and the love of mother, father and the child are the main themes of his work. As a result, we have tried to prove tha,t Montherlant in the dramatic area, has followed the classics and has tried to reflect the complexity functions and the place of human being in the universe. Montherlant having analyzed persons in his character, reflects his own complexity. And his characters have, more or less, his features. We can claim that Montherlant characters are partly himself.en_US
