Kalabalık sınıflardaki konuşma etkinliklerinin yöntemsel değerlendirilmesi: Uygulamalı bir araştırma

Abstract

1 ÖZET `Dil`in tanımıyla başladığımız bu çalışmamızda,onun iletişimdeki yerini vurgulamaya,eğitimde oynadığı önemli rolü belirtmeye çalıştık.Çalışmamıza ışık tutması açısından,dil öğretiminin ve öğreniminin ilk aşamalardan başlayarak şu ana kadar geçirdiği evreyi ve bu zaman sürecinde bulunup geliştirilen dil öğretim yöntem ve yaklaşımlarının dil öğretimine olan katkılarından bahsettik. Çağın hızla ilerlediği günümüzde modern teknolojiye ayak uydurabilecek çağdaş eğitim ortamının önemine değindik. Sesletimin Yabancı Dil Öğretimi 'nin vazgeçilmez bir parçası olduğunu belirtip,doğru söyleyişin eğitimin daha ilk safhalarında verilmesi gerektiğini vurguladık. Çalışmamızın diğer önemli noktasını teşkil eden kalabalık sınıflardaki konuşma etkinliklerinin yöntemsel değerlendirilmesini uygulamalı bir şekilde yaptık.Kalabalık sınıflarda iki yıl boyunca verdiğimiz konuşma dersinde,öğrenciler açısından çok verimli olan ve onlara azami konuşma olanağı sağlayan öğrenci - merkezli bir uygulama başlattık. Güncel ve genel konuların sunulduğu bu izlencede,öğrencilerimizin başlangıçta kısa bir süre için güçlük çekmelerine rağmen sonuçta giderek bu izlenceye alıştıklarına ve yıl sonunda başarılı olduklarına şahit olduk. Böyle bir izlencenin öğrencileri güdülendireceği ve kalabalık sınıflarda uygulanmasının öğrencilerin yararına olacağı kanaatindeyiz.

II ABSTRACT In this study, beginnig with the definition of `Language`, we try to emphasize its place in communication and important role in education. In order to englighten our study, we mention the phase of language teaching and learning from the first development until the present day and contributions of language teaching methods and approaches built and elaborated in the course of time to language teaching. We also deal with the importance of contemporary education which will be able to keep pace with the modern technology in our rapidly developing century. We stress that pronunciation is one of the most important components of Foreign Language Teaching that cannot be seperated from each other and it should be taught correctly at the very beginning of education. In another important section of our study, we carried out a methodical application for conversation sessions in large classes. During our two-year conversation teaching in large classes, we started a student-centered system which became beneficial in regard to our students and provided them with the utmost practice. Actual and general subjects were presented in this syllabus. Although they had difficulty at the beginning for a short period, we witnessed that they quickly removed their inhibitions as time went on and became successful at the end of the term. We are of the opinion that such kind of syllabus will motivate the students and benefit them if applied in large classes.
