Abstract

ÖZET MASTER TEZİ HERMANN HESSE'NIN ` SİDDHARTHA ` ADLI ROMANININ KAMURAN ŞİPAL VE YURDANUR SALMAN TARAFINDAN YAPILAN ÇEVİRİLERİNDE KARŞILAŞTIRMALI BİR ÇEVİRİ ELEŞTİRİSİ Hakan ÇİFÇİ Tez Yöneticisi : Yrd. Dr. Özcan ERİŞEK Çevirmenler özellikle kelime oyunlarında hatalar yapmaktadırlar. Aynı durum cümle çevirileri içinde geçerlidir. Çevirmenler kendilerinden beklenen başarıyı ortaya koyamamaktadırlar. Söz konusu her iki çeviride de durum farklı değildir. Amacım, hangi çevirmenin daha iyi çevirdiğini bilimsel yöntemlerle tespit Etmek, böylece çevirmenlerin kalitesini ortaya koymak ve ayrıca çevirmenlerin yetersiz kaldıkları yerlerde çözüm önerileri getirmektir. Bu çalışma 5 bölümden oluşmaktadır. 1. Bölüm genel bir giriş niteliğindedir. Bu kısımda çeviri hakkındaki düşüncelerim dile getirilmiştir. Yine bu bölümde çeviri tarihindeki önemli şahsiyetlere ve onların Fikirlerine değinilmiştir. Daha sonra Hermann Hesse ve eseri ` Siddhartha ` hakkında bilgiler verilmiştir. 2. bölüm analizlerden oluşmaktadır. ` Siddhartha ` adlı eserden rastgele alınan sayfalarda önce uslub, sonra kelime oyunu ve nihayet cümle analizleri yapılmıştır. Bu noktada da bir konuya açıklık getirmekte fayda görmekteyim. Bütün bu analizler Doç. Dr. Rezzan Algün'ün geliştirdiği modele göre yapılmıştır. Bu alanda yeterli sayılabilinecek tek bilimsel metodu kendisi geliştirmiştir. 3. bölümde her iki çeviri Rezzan Algün'ün yöntemi doğrultusunda sayılarla değerlendirilmiştir. Hangi çevirmenim ` daha iyi, güzel ve sadık çevirdiği ` bu bölümde tespit edilmiştir. 4. bölümde çalışmanın genel bir değerlendirilmesi yapılmıştır. 5. bölüm ise kaynakçadır. Sonuç olarak Kamuran ŞipaFın eseri daha iyi çevirdiği tespit edilmiştir. Fakat sadece Yurdanur Salman'a oranla daha iyi bir çeviri yapmıştır. Mükemmel denilebilecek bir çeviri ortaya koyamamıştır. Her iki çevirmen de daha iyi, daha güzel ve daha sadık bir çeviri ortaya koyabilirlerdi. Gerek kelime oyunları gerekse kaynak ve amaç dile yönelik cümle önerilerimle bu eserin daha kaliteli dilimize aktarabilineceğini ispatlama çalıştım.

In addition to that, they are not good at translating the whole sentences as they are expected, as well. Typically, the fact is the same in both translations. What my purpose here, is to indicate, which translator did his/her best in translating Hesse's ` Siddhartha `, by means of scientific methods. Hence, clafiying the qualities of the translators, and also realizing some solution recommendations where both tranlators are failed. This thesis is formed of five chapters. First, as an introduction to translation, in which my ideas about translation discussed. In the same chapter some of the most important characters and their opinions throughout the history of translation are dwelled on. Afterwards, informations about Hermann Hesse, and about his literal work ` Siddhartha ` are given. Second chapter includes analysis'. Exploring the pages, taken at random, from ` Siddhartha `, af first style, then word ticks and finally sentences analyses are examined. At this point, I have to point out that all of the analysis' done are based on the tables developed by Rezzan Algtin. Because a unique scientific model, in this area, that could be assumed as satisfactory, is progressed by her. In third chapter, depending on Rezzan Algiin's tables, the both of the translations are evaluated by means of numbers. And finding out of which translator translated ` Siddhartha`, ` Better, Beautiful and Loyal ` is indicated in this part In fourth chapter, the evaluation of the whole thesis in general is included. The last chapter is bibliography. At the end of the thesis I found that, Kamuran ŞipaPs translation is better than Yurdanur Salman's. Yet, it's just done more successful, comparing to Yurdanur Salman's. Unfortunately, he could not done his best and came up with a translation so called perfect. The two translators, both, could have translated much better, more beautiful and more loyal. By suggestion of some word tricks and also by suggestion of sentences relating to the resource language and overall language, I've tired to prove that this literal work supposed to be translated much more qualified.
