Elias Canetti`nin yapıtlarında ölüm

Abstract

Dr. Arif ÜNAL Bu çalışmada, aforizma ve özyaşamöykü yazarı olarak Dünya Yazınında özel bir yer alan Elias Canetti'nin düzyazı ve dram yapıtlarında ölüm konusu irdelenmiştir. Bu çalışma Giriş Bölümü'nden, beş ana kısım ve sonuçtan oluşmaktadır. Çalışmanın birinci bölümünde ölüm olgusu belirli disiplinlerden hareketle ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde ise Ölümle yazın arasındaki ilişki üzerinde durulmuş ve Alman Yazın tarihi içerisindeki konumu irdelenmiştir. Üçüncü Bölüm'de Elias Canetti'nin yaşamında ölümün izleri ve ölüm nefretinin olası kaynaklarına; Dördüncü Bölüm'de ölümün olumsuz yönlerine ve Beşinci Bölüm'de ise ölümü Aşma girişimlerine yer verilmiştir. Söz konusu yapıtlarında kanıksanmış bir ölümün birey ve toplum üzerindeki tüm olumsuzluklarını tüm çıplaklığıyla yalnızca vermemiş, aynı zamanda çözüm önerileri de sunmuştur. Ölümün kanıksanmasına karşı çıkma ve ölümsüz olma girişimi bağlamında ölüme gerektiğinde duygusal, gerektiğinde kuramsal ve de kendine özgün bir terminoloji geliştirerek yaklaştığı sonucuna varılmıştır.

Supervisor: Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Rıdvan TATLICI 2000- PAGE: 150 Jury : Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Rıdvan TATLICI Professor Dr. Yılmaz ÖZBEK Associate Professor Dr. Arif ÜNAL This study is concerned with the concept of 'death' in the prose and dramatic works of Elias Canetti, outstandingly known as a writer of aphorisma and authobiography. This study is composed of an introductory chapter, five main parts and a conclusion. The first part of the study deals with the concept of death from the points of certain disciplines. The second part is intended to reveal the relation between death and literature and the place of death in the history of German Literature. The third part gives place to the probable reasons for Canetti' s hatred of death and to the traces of death in his life. The fourth part is focused on the negative aspects of death, while the fifth one is intended to bring into light his attempts to surpass death. Canetti not only portrays the negative influences of an adopted death on the individual and society in his works but also presents some solution. The study concludes that he has adopted a partly sentimental, partly theotrical and partly original terminology to treat and approach death in the senses of objection to the adoption of death and of the attempt and hope to be deathless.
