Abstract

ABSTRACT Ph. D. DISSERTATION SYNTAX IN THE LETTERS OF NAMIK KEMAL Funda KARA Advisor: Prof. Dr. Efrasiyap GEMALMAZ 2001- PAGES: 1023 Jury : Prof. Dr. Efrasiyap GEMALMAZ This study is an analysis of syntax of a corpus consisting of one-fifth of 1043 letters written by Namık Kemal and compiled by Fevziye Abdullah TANSEL. The objective of this study is to analyse sentences according to their forms, meanings and functions, and to elucidate expressive power and limitations of Turkish language and also to determine how the writer reflected his thoughts, feelings and observations in the surface structure. Sentences have randomly been chosen and analysed in four homogenous groups individually. The results have been evaluated in nine chapters: The Introduction includes the author's life, ideas, the features of his language and style, and general information about the study. The Marking of Concepts deals with the features of independent concepts. The Base Elements deals with the verbs and nouns in their base forms. The Relations among The Concepts is about definite determinative groups, conjugations and declensions. Sentence deals with the elements of a sentence. Elements Outside Sentence contains the elements which are not the constituents of a sentence. Sentence Structures gives the sentence patterns and their examples. The Ratio of the use of Sentence and Sentence Patterns includes the statistical data of sentences and sentence patterns according to four groups. Conclusion is about the results drawn from the study. An Index of Morphology and References are added to the main body of the study.

ÖZET DOKTORA TEZİ NAMIK KEMAL'İN MEKTUPLARINDA SÖZ DİZİMİ Funda KARA Danışman: Prof. Dr. Efrasiyap GEMALMAZ 2001- SAYFA: 1023 Jüri : Prof. Dr. Efrasiyap GEMALMAZ Bu çalışma, Fevziye Abdullah TANSEL'in derlediği Namık Kemal'e ait 1043 mektubun beşte birinden elde edilen bir bütünce (corpus) üzerindeki söz dizimi incelemesidir. Modern dilbilim anlayışında, şekil, anlam ve işleve göre cümleleri çözümleyebilmek, Türkçe'nin ifade gücünü, sınırlarını bu mektuplar aracılığıyla tespit edebilmek, aynı zamanda yazarın duygu, düşünce ve gözlemlerinin yüzeysel yapıya nasıl dönüştüğünü belirlemek, ulaşılmak istenen amaçlardandır. Bunun için cümleler, kur'a yöntemiyle tesadüfen seçilmiş homojen 4 grupta ayrı ayrı çözümlenmiş, çözümlemeden elde edilen bilgiler de 9 bölümde değerlendirilmiştir: `Giriş` bölümünde yazarın hayatından, fikirlerinden, dil ve üslûp özelliklerinden; çalışmayla ilgili genel bilgilerden, `Kavramların İşaretlenmesi` başlığı altında bağımsız kavramlarla ilgili özelliklerden, `Taban Hâlindeki Öğeler` başlığı altında taban hâlindeki isim ve fiillerden, `Kavram İlişkileri` bölümünde isim ve fiil çekimlerinden ve belirli tamlamalardan, `Cümle` adlı bölümde cümlenin öğelerinden, `Cümle Dışı Öğeler` başlığı altında ise cümlenin kurucu olmayan öğelerinden bahsedilmiştir. `Cümle Yapıları` bölümünde cümle kalıpları ve bunların örnekleri verilmiş, `Cümle ve Cümle Kalıplarının Kullanım Oranları` adlı bölümde de cümle ve cümle kalıplarıyla ilgili istatistik! bilgiler 4 gruba göre gösterilmiştir. `Sonuç` bölümünde ise, incelemenin genelinden çıkarılan sonuçlara yer verilmiştir. Çalışmanın son kısmına bir `Şekil Bilgisi Dizini` ve çalışmada yararlanılan kaynakların gösterildiği `Kaynaklar` bölümü eklenmiştir.
