Dr. Çiğdem ÜNAL Bu deneysel araştırmada, ülkemizde henüz yeni araştırılmaya başlanan Sosyal Bilgiler dersinin öğretiminde problem çözme yönteminin kullanılması sonucunda öğrenci başarısı yönünden etkinliği incelenerek karşılaştırılmıştır. Araştırma Kültür Kurumu İlköğretim Okulu ve Şükrüpaşa İlköğretim Okullarında gerçekleştirilmiştir. 2001-2002 Eğitim-Öğretim yılında 5. sınıf öğrencilerinden deney ve kontrol grupları oluşturulmuştur. Araştırma altı grup üzerinde yürütülmüştür. Gruplardan ikisi `'kontrol` grubu olarak belirlenmiş ve bu gruplarda klasik yöntemlerle öğretim sürdürülmüştür. Deney gruplarında problem çözme yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Deney ve kontrol gruplarına, ön test ve son test uygulanmıştır. Buna göre araştırmada elde edilen bulgular aşağıdaki gibidir. Elde edilen bulgulara göre: 1. Şükrüpaşa İlköğretim Okulu'nda kontrol ve deney 1-2 grupları arasında; deney 1 -2 grupları lehine anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur. 2. Kültür Kurumu İlköğretim Okulu'nda kontrol ve deney 1-2 grupları arasında deney 1-2 grupları lehine anlamlı farklar bulunmuştur. »

Ill ABSTRACT MASTER THESİS TEACHING OF SOCIAL SCIENCES IN THE FİFTH YEAR OF İLKÖ?RETİM AND THE PROBLEM SOLVING METHOP Özlem YILMAZ Supervisor: Assistant Prof. Dr. Çiğdem ÜNAL 2002-Pages:lS6 Jury: Ass: Assistant Prof. Dr. Çiğdem ÜNAL This experimental studyis intenled to analyze the efficiency of the problem solving method in the teaching of social sciences, a topic which has begun to be dealt with in recent years, comparing it's contribution to the success level of the students. The study was carried out at Kültür Kurumu İlköğretim School and Şiikrüpaşa İlköğretim School. We formed experiment and control groups out of the 5:'' year students, in 2001-20Ü2 training year. Established on six different groups, the study had twocontrol groups where educetion was maintained by means of narrative and guestion-answer methods. Howewer in experiment groups, problem solving method was used. In experiment and control groups, pre and post tests were [applied. According to the findings obtained in the study in these two schools, the results are below: 1. Between the control and experiment 1 2 groups in Şiikrüpaşa İlköğretim School, there was found a statistically significant difference on the part of experiment 1-2 groups. 2. Between the control and experiment 1-2 groups, there was found a statistically significant difference on the part of experiment I 2 groups.
