Joe Penhall`un oyunlarında delilik olgusu

Abstract

Bu çalışmada, çağdaş İngiliz tiyatrosunun önde gelen yazarlarından Joe Penhall'un Some Voices ve Blue/Orange adlı oyunlarındaki delilik temsilleri ve İngiliz toplumunun ve sağlık kuruluşlarının delilere karşı yaklaşımları incelenmiştir. Çalışmamız bir giriş bölümü, iki ana bölüm ve bir sonuç bölümünden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde Batı toplumlarındaki delilik olgusunun kısa bir tarihine yer verilmiş ve İngiltere Ulusal Sağlık Sistemi'nin işleyişi ve akıl hastalarına yönelik uygulamaları ele alınmıştır. İkinci bölümde Penhall'un oyunlarında karşımıza çıkan delilik temsilleri, hem toplum hem de sağlık sistemi bağlamında ele alınmıştır. Çalışmamızın amacı geçmişten günümüze ulaşan delilik olgusunu İngiltere toplumu ve İngiltere Sağlık Sistemi kapsamında incelemektir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Joe Penhall, Delilik, İngiltere Sağlık Sistemi, Some Voices, Blue/Orange.

This study examines the representations of madness in the plays of Joe Penhall, who is one of the leading playwrights in contemporary English theatre as well as the attitudes of English society and health services towards madness. This study consists of an introduction, two main chapters and a conclusion. In the first chapter, a brief history of madness is presented, and the attitude of National Health Service towards the mentally-disordered is examined. In the second chapter, the representations of madness in Penhall's plays are handled in the context of health service and society. The aim of this thesis is to study the fact of madness that comes from past to today depending on English society and English Health Service.
