dc.description.abstract55 SUMMARY The aim of this study is to research the geographical situation and the historical background of the ancient ruins in Bodrumkaya, Geographically, Bodrumkaya is a hill located on the east of Kozan village, where is in the north-east and 75 km, away from Antalya. Historically, after studying the related ancient resources, we have determined that Bodrumkaya was in the borders of Pisidia, During our study, we tried to find out the ancient name of the mentioned city which was not clear untill today. However, we could not get any clue or evidence such as inscrip tions or coins in Bodrumkaya, except of that some descriptions about the area written by the ancient writers. In the quotations of thoee writers like,Strabon, Polybios or Cicero, we faced a city, named as Pednelissos, somewhere around Selge and Aspendos, which has not been located yet. Thus, by sharing the opinions of theese ancient writers and also the Italian scholars who worked on Bodrumkaya in 1916, we believe that Bodrumkaya is the most possible place to locate Pednelissos, However it is not possible for us to make'any decisive decision without the support of archaeological excavations. The ancient city was established on the hill, the acropolis, and slopes of Bodrumkaya. At first, one can see the city walls, which once fortified the city with added towers and gates, the three storied well preserved agora building, and a rock relief of Apollo situated in the middle of the sacred area. In the ancient city, the most impressive masonry can be seen in the fortifications, significantly in the northern part of the city walls with the pulvinated work similar to the Lysimachos city walls of Ephessos,56 ekklesiasterion of Priene and of the terrace walls of the agora building in Pamphylian Seleucia, The agora building is a rare sample in the entire region with it's three storied structure, very much resembling the well-known agora buildings of Alinda, Assos and Aigai, The arrangement of rock relief of Apollo in the form of an aedicula finds it's parallel in Milyas, where a framed bust carved on a rock faccade is found. As a conclusion of our researches, in Bodrumkaya we named some unidentified ruins as temples, basilicas, cisterns, tombs, towers and gates. On the other hand we hesitated to name some of them as bath, fountain and Hereon. Finally; altough we intensively tried to find out the above mentioned settlement, unfortunately we are still not in a position to bring a decisive.; conclusion to the discussions on the subject; but at least we tried to introduce the ancient ruins in Bodrumkaya, by making detailed descriptions and photo graphic documantation as much as possible. We hope that all the questions about the city will be answered in near future by the help of archaeological excavations,en_US
