Müstakim-zade Süleyman Sadeddin hayatı eserleri ve Mecelletü`n-Nisab`ı

Abstract

Untill now there is no serious academic study neither ou Mustaqxm-zade Sulaymân Sa'ad ad -Dîn (1131-1202A719-178Ö). The greatest Turkish biographer of the XVIII. century nor ou his works. This study is devided into three chapters, after abriaf introduction which attempts to sum up the political and literary situation of the XVIII. century. The first chapter deals with the problems concerning Mustaqîm-zâde ' s life and personality such as his name, birth family, death, education, masters, and official f mictions. All this problems, including his affiliation to Tariqa and his transmit t ership of Hadith and quality of poet and historian are studies in different sub-sections. The second chapter concerns with the works of Mustaqim- zâde, with their full descriptions. The works are studied under two class : those which are extant and thos are lost. The works whose copies are extant are about 120 : there are enumarated by order of alphabetical letters, giving for each necessary informations from the scientific point of view. The third chapter is on the most important biographical work of Mustaqîm-zâde, `Majallatü'n-Nisâb`. The chapter examines in detailes the problems concerning this works; such as the subject-matter, the method, the number of chapters, the style, the sources, the place and importance in the Turkish Literature. Especially, there is no previous study on this chapter of our thesis. The conclusion is about to evaluate the informations ammused. And at the end Mustaqîm-zâde is emphasized as an important scholar through showing values of this works, especially of the `Majallatü'n-Nisâb`.
