dc.description.abstract | Bülent Özbey, ` The War of independence and The Çerkez Ethem Event.` 181 + X, Page The Ottoman Empire, that left from the World War I as defeated, signed the Mondros Armistice with the Entente Powers on 30 October 1918. The Entente Powers Started to occupy Anatolia and another Ottoman lands in accordance with the 7. And 24. Articles. The attitude of Sultan and the Istabul government against these occupations was to punish the unionists. They were accepted responsible for the Ottoman Empire's participation and defeat in the world war I. The Anatolian people became poor and they were in disaster at the end of these long wars. Therefore, the Mondros Armistice created spaciousness and ease on the Turkish people. But the decision of Paris Peace Congress about the occupation of Izmir by the Greeks let to pessimism and hopelessness again. With the occupation of İzmir by the Greeks and expansion fo it, the Turkish intelligents established the Committee of Defence and law and the Nationalist Force, in their regions. These Committees of Defence and law gathered some congress in their regions to present the occupations. Thus, the first phase of the Turkish war of Independence, Between 30 October 1918 and 23 April 1920 is called as the period of congress. | |
dc.description.abstract | Civil awakening, stardet with the occupation of İzmir, led to participated in the Turkish war of Independence in the front of Salihli by encouragement of Rauf Orbay. Ethem and the Itinerant Forces had an important role in the suppression of the rebellions, that increased after the opening of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Çerkeş Ethem Suppressed Anzavur, Bolu -Düzce and Yozgat rebellions. Çerkeş Etem met the socialist movement and participated in Yeşil Ordu when the was suppressing Yozgat rebellia, conflicts between Ethem and Ankara The First conflicts was the event of Yahya Galip. In fact, the most important reason for broken relations between Ethem and Ankara was Ethem' s opposition against the organied forces. Since, this problem could not be solved because of Ethem' s brothers ambitions, Ethem came to the point of rebellion against the Turkish Grand Notional Assembly. Ethem came to an agreement with the Greeks on 6 January 1921 and took Sheler on February 1921. After his insulting telegraph on 25 December 1920, the Turkish Grand national Assembly declared Ethem Rebellious and traitor. | en_US |
