Aydınlanma çağında kamusal alan ve heterotopik mekan incelenmesi: Palais Royal ve Mason locaları

Abstract

ÖZET Bu çalışmada, Aydınlanma Çağı'nda kamusal alan ve heterotopya kavramları iki örnek mekan analizi ekseninde incelenmiştir. Aydınlanma Dönemi, kamusal alanını anlayabilmek için tarihsel boyut ve diyaloga dayalı akılcı bir kamusal alan eleştirisi yapan Habermas'a başvurulmuştur. Modern toplumun oluşumunda yapısalla diyalektik ilişkisi içinde kendi kamusalını oluşturan somut, akılcı birey-öznenin dışladıkları, mekan üzerinden tarihsel ve eleştirel olarak değerlendirilecektir. Fakat incelenecek olan mekanları anlayabilme çabasında heterotopyayı da içine alan kamusal alan kavramı Palais Royal ve Mason Localan'nın kamusallığını tam olarak açıklamakta yetersiz kalmaktadır. Örnek mekanları açıklayabilmek için Foucault'nun heterotopya kavramı kullanılacak ve bu sayede öteki kamusallıkların ifadesi olarak heterotopik mekan, kamusal alana iade edilecektir. Çalışmanın ilk bölümünde Habermas'ın kurucu birey-öznelerin aklı kendilerine kapatarak kurguladıkları kamusal alan kavramı ve Foucault'nun ötekileştirilmiş insanını barındıran ama aynı zamanda oluşturduğu alternatif düzenlemeyle kendi ötekisini oluşturarak içine kapanan heterotopyalar incelenecektir. İkinci bölümde kamusal alan ve heterotopik mekan örneği, Aydınlanma Çağı Paris'inin toplumsal ve topografik bir yapısal incelemesinin ortasına, tarihsel bir analizle yerleştirilecek Palais Royal olacaktır. Üçüncü bölümün konusu ise, ikinci mekan incelemesi olarak, eski çağlardan biriktirdikleriyle şekillendirdiği tarihsel örgütleme yapısının ve Aydınlanma'da geçirdiği değişimin kazandırdığı modern çehresinin yine tarihsel bir analizle tartışılacağı mason localarıdır. Sonuç bölümünde ise Foucault ve Habermas'ın diyalog üzerinden eyleyen özne ekseninde epistemolojik bir karşılaştırması yapılacaktır. Öznenin ve mevcut iktidarın altını kazarak diyalogu ötekine de açan Foucault'nun somut ikizlenmiş öznesinin, mekan edindiği heterotopya ile kamusal alanın eksik kalan boşluklarını ve ara yerlerini nasıl doldurduğu tartışılacaktır. 236

ABSTRACT The aim of this thesis is to analyse the public space and heterotopia in the Enlightenment on the axis %ample space analysis!* To understand the public space, Habermas who criticizes the public sphere from the historical point of view depending on the rationalist dialogue, will be taken into consideration. In the formation of modern society, `the other` that has been left ouside by the concrete, rational individual-subject will be evaluated on the spatial basis. Nevertheless, in an attempt to grasp the sample spaces, Palais Royal and freemason lodges, the concept of public space that includes the heterotopia is not sufficient enough. To explicate these spaces, Foucault' concept of heterotopia will be joined to public space as a representative of other publicness. In the first chapter of this thesis, the Habermas' public sphere concept that was formulated by the rational, individual-subjects forming their outside aswell and Foucault's heterotopia as the alternate social ordering that hosts the other will be analysed. In the second chapter, first heterotopic, public space sample, Palais Royal will be put into the heart of Enlightenment's social, historical and topographic analysis. In the third chapter, aim is to analyse the freemason lodges as a second case space within their organizational structure depending on the historical heritage and the breaking points in their history during the modernization period. In the conclusion, from the departure of epistemological comparison of Habermas and Foucault on subject and dialogue, how the heterotopia that hosts the concrete, representative subject that gives way to the dialogue undermining the existing power and subject relations can fill the gaps and mids of public sphere will be discussed in the light of sample space analysis. 237
