Y Hemathologic disorders effect many people in the south-east region of Turkey because of the high rate of inter marriages, between relatives. We studied the levels of some biochemical blood parameters and the incidence of hemoglobinopathies in the south-east Anatolia. In this study we investigated 500 patients who had come from 43 different towns to Diyarbakır. 35 patients with hemoglobinopathy were from south-east Anatolia and 21 of these had married between relatives. Hemoglobinopathy incidence was found to be 7%. The mean serum (Fe) level of patients with hemoglobinopathy was 39.771 ug/dl. This result was compared with control group whose mean serum Fe level was found as 79.512 ug/dl. The difference between them was statistically significant (PO.01). Iron binding capacity was was 266.6 ug/dl in patients and 304.97 ug/dl in the control group. The differences between these levels were statistically significant (P<0.01). ALP levels was found to be 82.8 IU in patients and 48.239 IU in the control group. The differences between these levels were statistically significant (P<0.01). The mean Ca levels was found to be 9.1940 mg/dl in patients and 8.9129 mg/dl in the control group. The differences between these levels was not significant (P>0.05).The mean P levels was found to be 3.1086 mg/dl in patients and 3.6243 mg/dl in the control group. The differences between them was statistically significant (PO.001). The mean Sialic add levels were found to be 65.637 mg/dl in patients and 69.1 mg/dl in the control group. The differences between them was not statistically significant (P>0.05). 55en_US
