Doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar ile ekonomik büyüme arasındaki ilişki: Türkiye örneği

Abstract

Gelişmekte olan ülkelerin karşılaştığı önemli sorunlardan birisi tasarruf yetersizliğidir. Bu sorun, ülkeleri dış kaynaklardan özellikle doğrudan yabancı yatırımlardan yararlanma yoluna yönlendirmektedir. Dolayısıyla hem gelişmiş hem de gelişmekte olan ülkeler doğrudan yabancı yatırımları kendi ülkelerine çekebilmek için yoğun çaba sarf etmektedirler. Bunun sebebi ise doğrudan yabancı yatırımların sağladığı sermaye, yeni teknoloji ve istihdam artısından yararlanma isteğidir. Bu çalışmada öncelikle doğrudan yabancı yatırım kavramı ve teorileri açıklanmıştır. Sonrasında doğrudan yabancı yatırımların ev sahibi ülke ekonomik büyümesi üzerindeki etkileri incelenmiş ve Türkiye'deki durumu değerlendirilmiştir. Son olarak, doğrudan yabancı yatırımların ekonomik büyüme üzerindeki etkileri Türkiye ekonomisi 1980–2013 dönemi için ekonometrik yöntemler kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Analizlerde, milli gelir ve doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar olmak üzere iki değişken yer almıştır. Değişkenlere ilişkin zaman serisi verileri ADF ve PP birim kök testi ile sınanmışve değişkenlerin 1. fark değerlerinde durağan oldukları gözlenmiştir. Bu değişkenlere uygulanan Eengle-Granger eşbütünleşme testi sonucunda, söz konusu değişkenlerin eşbütünleşik oldukları sonucuna varılmıştır. Tahmin sonuçları, doğrudan yabancı yatırımların ekonomik büyüme üzerinde pozitif etkiler yarattığını ortaya koymuştur. Diğer taraftan, doğrudan yabancı yatırımlar ile ekonomik büyüme arasında bulunan nedensellik ilişkisi, çift yönlü bir ilişki biçiminde olmaktadır.Anahtar Kelimeler: Ekonomik Büyüme, Doğrudan Yabancı Yatırımlar, Zaman Serisi

One of the significant problems developing countries face is inadequacy of savings. This problem lead countries that to benefit from foreign sources and foreign direct investments. Therefore, both developed and developing countries make great effort to attract foreign direct investments into their countries. The reason for this is the desire to benefit from the capital, new technology and employment increase foreign direct investments provide. In this study, the concept of foreign direct investment sand theories relating foreign direct investments are explained first. Following that, effects of foreign direct investments upon the economic development of the home country are handled and the situation in Turkey is analyzed. Finally, effects of foreign direct investments upon the economic development of Turkey between 1980 and 2013 are analyzed through the use of econometrical methods. Two variables, national income foreign direct investment, were included in the analyses. Time-series data related to the variables were tested with ADF and PP unit root test and it was observed that the variables were stable in their first difference value. At the end of the Engle-Granger co-integration test applied to thesevariables, it was realized that the mentioned variables were co-integrated. The results indicate that foreign direct investments have had positive effects upon economic development. On the other hand, there is a two-way causality between foreign direct investment and economic growth.Key Words: Economic Development, Foreign Direct Investments, Time SeriesAnalysis
