Van yöresinde amca kızı-amca oğlu evliliği (yapısal-işlevsel bir inceleme)

Abstract

Antropoloji literatüründe tartışmalı bir sorun olan amca klzi-amca oğlu evliliğinin yapısal-işlevsel nedenleri üzerine Van yöresinde alan araştırması yapılmıştır. Akraba evliliği istatistik açıdan en yüksek düzeyde <%28) Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi' nde uygulandığı için, bu, bölgeden Van yöresi seçilmiştir. Araştırmada, aile, akrabalık, evlilik kurumlar! incelenmiştir. Bu kurumlar içinde, (l)aşiret kimliği ile soy-içi-evlilik; C2)soy birliği ve dayanışması ile amca kızı evliliği; <3>ailenin ekonomik bütünlüğünün korunması ile amca kızi evliliği; (4) Medeni Kanun* un kırsal yörelerde karşılaştığı uygulama güçlükleri ile soy-içi-evlilik töresinin sürdürülmesi arasındaki ilişkiye bakılmıştır. Bu denencelerin beklentimiz doğrultusunda olduğu saptanmakla birlikte, soy birliği ve dayanışmasının sağlanması ve ailenin ekonomik bütünlüğünün korunması amacıyla amca kızi evliliğinin yanı sira diğer kuzen evliliklerinin de yapıldığı görülmüştür. Ayrica, denencelerde yer almayan `toplumsal statünün korunması` gerekçesinin de soy-lçi-evlilikle ilişkili olduğu ortaya çıkmıştır. Sonuç alarak, ele alınan kurum ve değişkenlerin aynı zamanda, Doğu Anadolu Bölgesi' nin Anadolu'daki diğer bölgeler ile bütünleşememesinin nedenleri arasında bulunduğu saptanmıştır.

The reasons for endogamy are a matter of sometimes controversial discussion in the anthropological literature. A study has been made in the enviros of Van to establish the structural-functional reasons for marriages there between paternal first cousins <FBD). The environs of Van were selected as being within the Eastern Anatolia Region which, according to the available statistics, has the highest rate <%28> of marriage among close relatives of any region in Turkey. The institutions of family, kinship and marriage were investigated. Vithin these institutions we looked into the relationships between and among the following (l)endogamy and identification with lineage; <2)the marriage of paternal first cousins and clan integrity and solidarity; <3)the marriage of paternal first cousins with the aiming of preserving the economic integrity of the family; <4)the persistence of the code of endogamy as it relates to the difficulties of enforcing the Civil Code in remote rural areas. Together with supporting our hypotheses in respect to the above, our findings showed that there were marriages among other cousin marriages that should be viewed within these same categories. It was found, in addition, that there was a relationship between endogamy and the perceived need to `protect the social status`. Our study showed that the Eastern Anatolia Region was not integrated with other regions in respect to the institutions investigated and the reasons for this.
