Ill ABSTRACT M. Sc. Thesis THE SYNTHESIS OF SUBSTITUE PHENYLGLYOXIMES AND INVESTIGATION OF THEIR COMPLEXES OF TRANSITION METALS Günnur ORHAN Selçuk University, Institue of Science, Department of Chemistry. Supervisor: Assoc. Prof. Dr. H. İsmet UÇAN 1995, Page: Jury: In this study, w-isonitrosoacetophenone have been isolated through the nitrosotion reaction between acetophenone and butyl nitrite in sodium ethoxide medium. Phenylglyoxime has been synthesized by the reaction of w-isonitrosoacetophenone and hydroxylaminohydrochloride in alkaline medium. After being powdered, finally anti- phenylglyoxime is suspended at 40°C in dry chloroform and treated with Cİ2 anti- chlorophenylglyoxime is obtained.IV Ethylendiamine or 1,3-propylenediamine has been added into ethylacetated solution of antichlorophenylglyoxime at temperatures between -10°C, to synthesized anti-, amphi- 1.2-Bis(phenvlglvoximetetane and anti-, amphi-1.3-Bis (phenylglyoxime) propane ligands. Addition of Ni(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) chloride salts dissolved in water into ethanol solution of ligands have given coloured complexes. During this work, isonitrosoacetophenone, phenylglyoxime, anti- chlorophenylglyoxime, four phenyl-substituted aminoglyoxime ligands and their complexes have been isolated and their structures have been investigated by using techniques of IR and 'H-NMR spectroscopy and elementary analysis. KEY WORDS; Oxime. glyoxime, transition metal complexes.
