dc.description.abstract58 SUMMARY The Effect of Different Metal Porcelain Alloys and Repeated Firings on the Color of Dentin Porcelain In this study, the effect of different metal porcelain alloys and repeated firing on the color of dentin porcelain and hue, value, chroma changes were investigated. Seven different metal porcelain alloys were used in the study. Ten test specimens approximately 1 lxl lxl mm. diameters were made from each alloy. Each test specimen was oxidated and 0.3 mm. opaque porcelain and 0.8 mm. dentin porcelain were applied. Test specimens had natural glaze. Standard, five and ten repeated firing cycles applied test specimens colour measuring procedures were made with a chroma-meter which is used in CIE Colour System and transferred to the computer. All metal porcelain alloys, apart from Cu containing high palladium alloy, can be used for PFM restorations by following manufacturer's instructions and applying sufficient thickness of opaque and dentin porcelain, then firing these materials in standard firing cycles. The total colour change should be coNsidered seriously in PFM restorations when the Au-Pd alloy is59 subjected to firing cycles up to five times as to standard firing cycles. Repeated firings of the PFM restorations for ten times should definitely be omitted after standard firing cycles.
