Bir modern olgu olarak çokkültürlülük

Abstract

İnsanlar modern dönemlere kadar farklı kültür grupları halinde yaşaya geldiler. Bazı olumsuz örneklerine rastlansa bile genelde birileri diğerlerinin kültürünü yeniden kurup asimle etmeye çalışmadı. Başka kültürler üzerinde etkinlik modern bir tavır olarak başladı. Dolayısıyla da günümüzde çok kültürlülük bir arada yaşama sorunu olarak ortaya çıktı. Gerçekten de modern kültürün toplulukları homojenleştirme sürecinin doğurduğu önemli sorunlardan birisi mevcut kültür ve toplulukların varlıklarını nasıl sürdürebilecekleridir.Batı kültürü uzun bir zamandır çözüm olarak bir çok kültürlülük projesinden söz etmektedir. Ne var ki ilk bakışta bir hayli cazip gözüken bu proje pek çok probleme sahip bulunmaktadır. Bu haliyle batı bağlamında insanlık fiili bir ?tekkültürlülük süreci? ile potansiyel bir ?çokkültürlülük projesi? arasında bir gerilim yaşamaktadır. İşte bu tez, dünden bugüne, sunulan örneklerden hareketle çok kültürlülüğün imkânları, sınırları ve sorunlarını tartışmaktadır.

Human beings have lived as different cultural groups until the modren times. Even though some negative samples have been encountered, in general, ones did not try to reestablish the others? culture and assimilate them. Being effective on other cultures has appeared as a modern behavior. In consequence, today multiculturalism has emerged as a matter of living together.Indeed, one of the problems wich has been caused by the process of homogenization of societies by modern culture is how the current cultures and societies will survive. For a long time, western culture has been referring to the project of multiculturalism as a solution. However, this project that is seen quiet appealing at first sight has many problems. In its present form, humanity in western context lives between the monculturalism process and the potential multiculturalism project. That thesis discusses the facilities, limitations and problems of monoculturalism depending on the presented samples from past to the present.
