Bostanzâde Yahyâ Efendi ve Mir`âtü`l-Ahlâk`ı (inceleme-metin)

Abstract

Tezimizin konusunu teşkil eden Mir'âtü'l-Ahlâk; tamamı ahlâkî faziletlere dair 24 bölümden müteşekkildir. Eserde işlenen konular; ibadet, sabır, şükür, şecaat, zekâ, ciddiyet, rızâ, vefâ, sır saklama, cömertlik, af, iffet, tevazu, hayâ, emanet, sadâkat, şefkat, âlicenaplık, müşâvere, hilm, gayret, firâset, fırsatı değerlendirme, temkin, iyilerle dostluk kurma, hukuka riâyet gibi faziletler ve hükümdarlık, emirlik, vezirlik, valilik gibi resmî görevlerin gerektirdiği yükümlülüklerdir. Ahlâk sahasında felsefî ve teorik tahliller yerine pratiğe ağırlık veren eserde ahlâkî faziletler âyet ve hadislerle örneklendirilmiştir. Ayrıca Türkçe, Arapça ve Farsça olmak üzere ahlâkî ve hikemî manzumeler, peygamber kıssaları ve İslâm tarihinden alınmış örnek ahlâkî motiflerle eserin muhtevası zenginleştirilmiştir. Eflâtun, Aristo, İbn Sînâ, Hüseyin Vâiz Kâşifî gibi ünlü ahlâk filozoflarından yapılan nakiller müellifin geniş bilgi ve kültürünü göstermekle beraber etki açısından esere büyük bir güç kazandırmaktadır. Mir'âtü'l-Ahlâk; 17. yüzyıl Osmanlı toplumunun ahlâkî yapısını ve dönemin münevverlerinin ideal ahlâk görüşlerini yansıtması bakımından değerli bir eserdir.Çalışmamız giriş ve üç bölümden müteşekkildir. Girişte, ele aldığımız metnin mensur bir ahlâk kitabı olmasına binâen ?ahlâk?ın mahiyeti, ahlâk ilminin tarihçesi ve mensur ahlâk kitapları üzerinde durulmuştur. Birinci bölüm; Bostanzâde Yahyâ Efendi'nin yaşadığı devre toplu bir bakış ile onun ailesi, hayatı, eserleri ve şahsiyeti konularına tahsis edilmiştir. İkinci bölümde; Mir'âtü'l-Ahlâk ana hatlarıyla tanıtılmış, muhtevası üzerinde durulmuş, eserde yer alan âyet ve hadisler tespit edilmiş, eserin dil ve üslûp özellikleri belirtilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde ise, çalışmamızın temelini teşkil eden metin ve bu metne dair bazı hususiyetler yer almaktadır.Tezimiz; sonuç, bibliyografya, dizin ve Mir'âtü'l-Ahlâk nüshalarından örnekler ile tamamlanmıştır.

Mir?âtü?l-Ahlâk (mirror of morals), which constitutes the subject matter of our thesis, consists of 24 chapters that deal with moral values and virtues. The topics that the book handles include virtues such as prayers, patience, thankfulness, bravery, intelligence, seriousness, consent, loyalty, secretiveness, generosity, forgiveness, chastity, modesty, coyness, confidence, compassion, protectiveness, consultation, softness of manner, industriousness, foresight, seizing opportunity, caution, establishing good rapport with the good, and abiding by the law and obligations originating from official duties such as emirate, vizierdom, governorship and kingdom. The book, which prefers practice in the field of morality rather than philosophical and theoretical analyses, exemplifies moral virtues with verses from the Koran and the Hadith of Prophet Muhammad. Moreover, the content of the book has been enriched with Turkish, Arabic and Persian parables on morality and wisdom, stories from the lives of prophets and exemplary moral themes from the history of Islam. Quotations from famous moral philosophers such as Plato, Aristotle, Avicenna, and Hüseyin Vâiz Kâşifî both reflect the author?s extensive knowledge and culture and add to the power of the book. Mir?âtü?l-Ahlâk is an important work in that it reflects the moral structure of the Ottoman society in the 17th century and the idealistic and moral views of the intellectuals of the period.Our study consists of an introduction and three sections. The introduction deals, by virtue of being a book on morals, with the history of ethics, its nature and other prose books on morals. Section 1 is devoted to a general outlook on the period when Bostanzâde Yahyâ Efendi lived and his life, family, works and personality. Section 2 describes major aspects of Mir?âtü?l-Ahlâk, focuses on its content, determines the verses from the Koran and the hadith and linguistic and stylistic features of the work. Section 3 includes the text, which constitutes the basis of our study, and some issues about the text.
