MÖ 394 Knidos Deniz Savaşı

Abstract

Knidos Antik Kenti'nin coğrafi konumu itibariyle türlü etkilere ve saldırılara maruz kalması kaçınılmaz olmuştur. Gerçekleşen olaylar neticesinde de Knidos Kenti önemli bir kültür merkezi haline gelmiştir. Deniz kıyısında bulunmasından dolayı, dünya tarihine etki eden deniz savaşlarından biri olan Peloponnesos Savaşı'na tanıklık etmiş ve savaşın süresi üzerinde önemli bir etkisi de olmuştur. Peloponnesos Savaşları, iki büyük güç olan Atina ile Sparta arasında yaşanan ve 27 yıl süren bir savaştır. Dönem dönem savaşta üstün olan taraf değişse de, bu savaşın kazananı Perslerin yardımıyla Sparta olmuştur. Fakat Sparta'nın vaat ettiği özgürlüğü Yunan şehir devletlerine verememesi ve Atina'nın Sparta'dan uzaklaşan Perslerle ittifak kurması, M.Ö. 394 yılında gerçekleşen Knidos Deniz Savaşı'na yol açmış ve savaşın seyrini değiştirerek Sparta'nın egemenliğine son vermiştir.

Due to the geographical location of the ancient city of Knidos, it was inevitable that it would be subjected to various influences and attacks. As a result of the events, the city of Knidos has become an important cultural center. Due to its presence on the shore, it witnessed the Peloponnesian War, one of the maritime wars affecting world history, and had a significant impact on the duration of the war. The Peloponnesian Wars is a 27-year war between Athens and Sparta, the two great powers. Although the superiority of the war changed from time to time, the winner of this war was Sparta with the help of the Persians. However, the failure of Sparta to promise Greek city-states and Athens to form an alliance with the Persians who left Sparta. Knidos, which took place in 394, led to the Naval War and changed the course of the war and put an end to the rule of Sparta.
