5 yaşından küçük, kozmetik olarak kabul edilebilir, dengeli deformitelerde, eğriliğin tipine, uzunluğuna, şiddetine ve yerine, beraberinde kosta füzyonu varlığı veya sagital plan deformitesine bağlı olmaksızın uygulanabilir. dc.description.abstract | V ABSTRACT Uzumcugil, A., The efficacy of combined anterior-posterior convex growth arrest for congenital scoilosis, Hacettepe experience, Hacettepe University Faculty of Medicine, Thesis in Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Ankara 2003. In order to define the ideal patient who will benefit from convex growth arrest, 38 patients were studied in our clinic retrospectively. The mean age at the time of convex growth arrest was 29 months (6-72 months), and average follow-up was 33 months (12-120). Of 38 patients had mean Cobb angle was 55° (31°-105°) preoperative^ and 50° (13°-107°) at the final follow-up. 13 patients (34%) had a true epiphysiodesis effect while 21 (55%) had fusion, and 4 (11%) had progression. It was seen that the age at surgery, magnitude, length and location of the curve, presence of intraspinal anomaly, presence of sagittal plane or rib deformity did not alter the outcome. As a conclusion, Combined anterior-posterior convex growth arrest is a safe and effective method in the management of the young patients with congenital spinal deformities. It can be performed for the balanced and cosmetically acceptable deformities of the patients younger than 5 years of age regardless of the type, length, magnitude, and localization of the curve, or the existence of associated rib fusion, or the presence of sagittal plane abnormality.
