Design of alternative main weaving mechanisms for handmade carpet looms

Abstract

Günümüzde halen insan gücüyle üretilmekte olan el dokuma halılarının en önemliüretim asamaları dügüm olusturma (Türk dügümü veya ran dügümü), agızlık açma,atkı atma ve kirkitle halıyı sıkıstırma (tefe islemi) islemleridir. Bu islemler halınınüretimi esnasında dokumacıyı çok yormakta ve uzun zamanını almaktadır. Buçalısmada, el dokuma halı tezgahlarında kullanılmak üzere tefe islemi için uygun birmekanizma tasarlamak, atkı atma ve agızlık açma islemleri için de farklı alternatifmekanizmalar gelistirmek amaçlanmıstır. Böylece, dokumacı daha az emekharcayarak daha fazla halı dokuyabilecektir. Ayrıca tefe ve atkı atma islemlerindenkaynaklanan hatalar da azaltılabilecektir.Bu amaç dogrultusunda atkı atma, agızlık açma ve tefe islemlerini el dokumatezgahlarında mekanik olarak yapabilecek farklı yapılara sahip alternatifmekanizmalar gelistirilmistir. Gelistirilen bu mekanizmalar tasarım gereksinimleriaçısından karsılastırılarak her bir islem için uygun olabilecekler belirlenmistir.Ayrıca tefe islemi için seçilen mekanizmaların boyutları iki farklı boyutsal sentezmetodu kullanarak tespit edilmistir. Elde edilen mekanizmalar mekanik kriterleraçısından degerlendirilerek en iyi çözümü saglayan tefe mekanizması seçilmistir.Seçilen mekanizmanın dinamik analizi bir paket program kullanarak yapılmıs vesonuçlar irdelenmistir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Dokuma, El dokuma halıları, Tefe mekanizması, Atkı atmamekanizması, Agızlık açma mekanizması.

The most important production steps of the handmade carpets produced still byhuman labour are; knotting (Turkish knot or Persian knot), shedding, picking andtightening the carpet with the beater (beat-up operation) operations. These operationstire weaver and take long time during the carpet production. The aim of this thesis isto design a suitable mechanism for beat-up operation and develop differentalternative mechanisms for picking and shedding operations in the handmade carpetlooms. Thus, the weaver could weave more carpet by consuming less labor.Furthermore, the weaving faults caused by beat-up and picking operations could bedecreased.In the view of this aim, the alternative mechanisms with different structures whichcan mechanically perform the picking, shedding and beat-up operations in thehandmade carpet looms were developed. The suitable mechanisms for each operationwere determined by comparing these developed mechanisms in terms of designrequirements. Moreover, the dimensions of the mechanisms selected for beat-upoperation were determined by using two different dimensional synthesis methods.The beat-up mechanism providing the best solution was selected by evaluating theobtained mechanisms in terms of mechanical criterias. The dynamic analysis of theselected beat-up mechanism was then performed by using a package program and theresults were examined.Key Words: Weaving, Handmade woven carpets, Beat-up mechanism, Pickingmechanism, Shedding mechanism.
